WHY DÜSSELDORF – CLARA HUNNEBERG
At the age of 14, Clara Hunnenberg already knew she wanted to join the family business. She is now 32 years old, has a degree in event management and together with her mother, Heike, is running Hunnenberg GmbH, a flooring wholesaler in Düsseldorf-Flingern. In conversation, her passion for her job and her trade is obvious - as is her love for her home city.
What characterises Düsseldorf?
For me, it is the unique mix of city life and nature, of activity and tranquillity. On Saturdays, for example, I can walk along the Kö, where I am surrounded by people, it is loud and fast-paced. And then I can reach the other side of the Rhine in Oberkassel in a relatively short time and it no longer feels like a big city. As a dog owner, I really enjoy that.
Düsseldorf in three words.
Cosmopolitan. Dynamic. Warm.
Düsseldorf is a good location for the skilled trades and their partners because...
Düsseldorf has a very high purchasing power, which makes the location very attractive for business in general. The city offers a special advantage for the skilled trades: a diverse mix of real estate. For example, there are a lot of renovation projects in districts such as Oberkassel, with its many old buildings, but there are also many new construction projects throughout the city. There is also plenty of office space - the harbour area alone has seen a lot of development in recent years. This diversity is very attractive to the trades and, of course, offers great potential for flooring of all kinds. What's more, Düsseldorf's convenient location and good transport links mean that many of the major cities in the surrounding area are within easy reach and can be used to generate business.
Here in Düsseldorf, I get into a good mood.
On the one hand, in nature. A long walk in the Grafenberg Forest, for example, helps me to relax and get into a good mood, especially in autumn with its many beautiful colours. But my absolute highlight is the Christmas market. There is nothing I enjoy more than drinking mulled wine with nice people and watching the whole spectacle.
Here in Düsseldorf, I find inspiration.
Especially from talking to people I don't (yet) know. I have spent many evenings with my friends at Café Muggel in Oberkassel and have always met new people - some from Düsseldorf, some visiting. We often talk about work, different lifestyles, goals and problems. And that's what inspires me. It gives me valuable insights into different topics. Sometimes you bring up an idea in a conversation, play it back and forth and discover new approaches. It broadens your horizons. •
