THIS IS: FLINGERN-SÜD
Flingern-Süd is bordered on three sides by railway lines running to the districts of Oberbilk, Stadtmitte and Flingern-Nord. The district was already industrialised back in the 19th century. While there are no longer any factories in this commercial area, which is bordered on the fourth side by Ronsdorfer Straße, it is home to the headquarters of local and international companies from various industries. The district is also home to a variety of cultural institutions, artists' studios and rehearsal rooms. Kiefernstraße is one of the few purely residential streets in the area and is known for its eventful history as a row of squatted houses in the 1980s. Thus, Kiefernstraße is a visible piece of the district's history. Overall, Flingern Süd has developed into a diverse business location characterised by a blend of industrial heritage and new uses, and home to companies and creative minds. This special mix defines the district to this day.
