WHY DÜSSELDORF? Ariane Ernst

The individually crafted pieces of jewellery by Ariane Ernst Jewelry enjoy great popularity: there are often long queues of eager customers for specials such as the annual birthdays in the store on Bilker Allee. But it‘s not just business that‘s going well in Düsseldorf; Freiburg native Ariane Ernst now loves living here, too.

Düsseldorf
in three words:

Gallant.

Diverse.
Exciting.

What makes Düsseldorf so special?

It’s a cool, art-interested, down-to-earth and very accessible city. Here you have everything from every corner of the world - from down to earth sausage with curry sauce (Currywurst) to Michelin star cuisine. You only find that in very few places.

Düsseldorf is a good location for my business because...

... very important business factors coincide here. Firstly, the size: Düsseldorf is not too big and not too small. Secondly, the support: you very quickly find access to people who want to support you. And: you’ll most likely meet every person a second time, even unplanned.

Düsseldorf in three words

Gallant. Diverse. Exciting.

If Düsseldorf were a piece of jewellery, what would it look like?

The jewellery artist Karl Fritsch spontaneously comes to mind. He drilled a hole right through a diamond, which is not really done because it is obviously very valuable. But it still remains a diamond. That also fits Düsseldorf very well: a shiny piece of jewellery on the surface, but there is something artistically and conceptually well thought-out behind it.

This is where I get my inspiration

The Bar Olio in Pempelfort is extremely characteristic for Düsseldorf. I find it very exciting to see the different people who come together there. That is very inspiring for me. Because I deal a lot with the zeitgeist. I’m interested in what moves and drives people. The times we live in and what that does to you.

This is where I get in a good mood

Although it’s somewhat out of town, it’s still a very cool place: the Museum Island Hombroich.

This is where I meet interesting people

I meet interesting people from all walks of life and from all generations, especially at my store. In addition, we have been organising the ariane ernst jewellery dinner - a series of events with inspiring speakers or renowned chefs - in our loft not far from the store for some time now. The focus here is on togetherness and craftsmanship. Each time, I enjoy meeting many new and interesting people there. •
